Congress Infrastructure Stalemate
CNN Politics and News Room covered the recent discussion in congress regarding the separation of Biden’s 1.2 trillion dollar infrastructure bill and the progressive 3.5 trillion dollar reparation bill. Progressives have pushed and said that they will not pass Biden’s bill unless they are given 3.5 trillion dollars.

The report describes how this is a monumental moment in congress due to the fact that the Progressive congressmen and women are holding strong leverage for the first time in decades. The 3.5 trillion dollar bill that they want to be connected to the president’s bill is said to subsidize health care, free pre-kindergarten, community college, and cheaper prescription drugs. The report highlights the speaker of the house’s, Pelosi’s, shift in priorities as she had said last year that the two bills would never be separated while she now has done exactly that. The overall message throughout the article is that Progressive congressmen and women are increasingly losing the rare leverage during this time as Biden’s bipartisan infrastructure bill becomes more independent.

Interestingly, in this report, the 3.5 trillion dollar bill is described to be of Biden’s creation. The writer also takes a lot of creative liberty and spends the first paragraph parodying the biblical creation of man with the bill and “lies” rather than “light”. The main objective of this article was to discredit the actual plans of the 3.5 trillion dollar bill. Certain arguments against it discussed were, the wide variety of spending subjects described as “infrastructure”, the common phrasing of democratic representatives saying that it actually is a “free” or “zero dollars” bill, and the denial that inflation could be worsened by it.
